Overview
Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour is located on the south end of the island of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands and is situated in Spanish Town, the area’s hub of shopping and boating activity. There is an active night life with varied restaurant choices and entertainment options that range from the idyllic sounds of live steel bands to night clubs perfect for dancing the evening through. Ten miles long, Virgin Gorda was so named by Christopher Columbus in 1493 as the layout of the islands that now surround Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour seemed to depict the silhouette of a portly woman lying on her back. Virgin Gorda is linked to other area islands by a small airport and regular ferry services. The northern half of the island is mountainous with the highest peak at 1,370 feet, while the southern half is flat and features large-scale boulders. All land higher than 1,000 feet on Virgin Gorda has been designated National Park area to preserve its natural beauty, which also makes the island a beautiful site for hiking.
Among the area’s most acclaimed attractions, the “Baths” of Virgin Gorda are a must see! These giant, naturally-created boulders form a series of spectacular pools and grottoes. This is the most famous geological landmark of The British Virgin Islands. The “Baths” are situated on the southwestern tip of Virgin Gorda, a quick 10-minute tender-ride from Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour. This breathtaking formation is an awe-inspiring site for swimming and snorkeling.
Several outstanding beaches are easily accessible from Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour. Just a few minutes walk from the marina is St. Thomas Bay Beach to the north across Palm Tree Field. To the south, there is a gate by the entrance to the marina. A tender ride around Fort Point to the South will get you to the beautiful Valley Trunk Beach with access to Spring Bay and to Virgin Gorda’s world famous “Baths.”
This island oasis has become well known the world over as an exquisite spot for rest, relaxation, fun, and seafaring adventure.
